SYRACUSE - American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, began non-stop jet service Aug. 1 between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Syracuse's Hancock International Airport. The airline offers one daily, non-stop flight each way between the cities. The daily, non-stop Syracuse to Dallas flight is scheduled to depart Hancock at 3:48 p.m. eastern time and arrive in Texas at 6:06 p.m. central time. The daily Dallas to Syracuse flight departs the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport at 10:50 a.m. central time and arrives at Hancock At 3:02 p.m. eastern time.
A search of the American Airlines Web site on Aug, 3 entering a sample trip departing Syracuse on Aug. 23 and returning Aug. 25, yielded a round-trip fare of $506.50, not including all taxes and fees, for the non-stop flight. In contrast, a sample trip on American including one stop in Chicago, was priced at $241 roundtrip, not including all taxes and fees. Several searches for other American flights on dates farther out (such as in September) yielded non-stop fares that were much closer to the fares for flights including stops. But in every case, the fare for the non-stop flight was higher.
American Eagle also has begun nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth and Greater Rochester International Airport with one daily flight in each direction.
American Eagle is the largest U.S. regional airline, operating over 1,700 daily flights to more than 140 cities throughout the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, Mexico, and the Caribbean on behalf of American Airlines. American Airlines is the world's largest air carrier.
