I make art while thinking about the immense privilege of being alive. To come to the blank sheet of paper is to arrive at a safe island, at an intimate space, where images develop in an alchemy of colors that hide and reveal themselves through the innumerable layers of pigment.

I make art while remembering. I make art while missing people, places, fond spaces, beloved names. I make art to make sense out of what has no sense, and to imagine that what almost killed me today transforms itself into images of light.

I make art as a revenge against so many darknesses. It is a way to avenge the brutalities that have threatened me. In the tenderness of silence, it is possible to construct the mysterious worlds of accumulated memories.
