Win an Unforgettable Beach Getaway
Southern Living, Jul 2007 by Lingo, Karen
Picture yourself here. Tell us your favorite Southern places, and we'll enter your name in a drawing for the trip of a lifetime.
Like a beautiful melody, one early morning on the beach at South Carolina's Kiawah Island keeps playing through my head.
Dark changes to dawn in a heartbeat. Swelling from the horizon, the sun separates the sea from the sky, its light dancing across the waves. It washes over a field of conch shells scattered down the flat, wet beach for as far as I can see.
The conchs shimmer, and for a few moments they glow like a legion of rising suns. My mind goes "click," capturing forever the amazing scene.
Such glorious sights unfold daily at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Add to that luxurious accommodations at the oceanfront hotel, The Sanctuary. The golf, too, is legendary, with five world-class courses that wind through Lowcountry marshes and out along the sea's edge. Everywhere on this island there is something to remember. -KAREN LINGO
