Decked Out in Louisville

Southern Living,  Dec 2006

Visit beautiful homes in the oldest part of this Kentucky city, where lights and decorations set a charming scene.

Tired of that same old wreath? Looking for a new way to string lights on your mantel? Take a break from decorating your own house, and check out eight Victorian homes in Old Louisville during the popular Holiday House Tour.

You'll love this yearly event just because of the variety of gorgeous houses that populate Old Louisville. Victorian style reigns supreme on the tour, but as you stroll the tree-lined streets, you'll also see examples of Arts and Crafts, Queen Anne, Italianate, and Beaux Arts.

Complimentary parking and transportation between homes encourage visitors to enjoy themselves without worry or extra cost. Tour guests also get to explore the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, which sells holiday gifts, including handmade articles by local artists. Dates: December 2-3. Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 day of tour; www.holidayhousetour.com or (502) 635-5244.
