Summer of Daylilies

Southern Living,  Jun 2004

Even avid gardeners can't help but smile when they come across a flower that practically grows itself. Assistant Garden Editor Edwin Marty profiles just such a flower in "Dazzling Daylilies," which starts on page 48. Although there are thousands of selections to choose from, he shows you how to find the right daylily to plant in your yard. While these easy flowers bloom only for a short time, photographers Ralph Anderson and William Dickey eternalize daylilies' loveliness in some truly beautiful pictures.

This month we present even more reasons to visit one of our most beloved Southern towns in "Charleston: Where the Locals Go," beginning on page 16. Associate Travel Editor Wanda McKinney and Senior Photographer Alien Rokach return to the charming city and-believe it or not-discover unknown nooks that hold new surprises (thanks to some insider information). For instance, they joined diners on the rooftop at the Market Pavilion hotel and located some fine designer home accessories in Village Pointe Shopping Center.
