A Cool Scoop

Fans scream for Buck's ice cream at the University of Missouri.
The most flavorable way to catch the college spirit in Columbia is by eating a dip of Tiger Stripe. The main draw on campus and throughout the town is this creamy French vanilla ice cream with a dark Dutch-chocolate swirl.
Buck's Ice Cream Place wanted to make a flavor to support the college's mascot, Truman the Tiger, and boost enthusiasm among students who run the shop and sell the ice cream under the supervision of a professor. This was the way founders Wendell and Ruth Arbuckle envisioned it.
"This ice cream is so good that people come for it even when there is snow on the ground. It's just too wonderful to miss any time of year," says a local Buck's addict. If you'd rather enjoy your Tiger Stripe at home, it's available in packages to go.
Buck's Ice Cream Place: located on campus at the south end of Eckles Hall. Hours: noon-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. For more information: Call (573) 882-0591 or (573) 882-1088.
