Like down-home Southern cooking, Tuscan cuisine will satisfy the whole family.
Tuscan cooking, like Southern cooking, is typically simple, hearty food. Both cuisines make use of fresh herbs and other garden delights.
Reader Deborah Mazzotta Prum of Charlottesville, Virginia-a descendant of Italian immigrants-still has relatives in the old country. "Various family members [in the States], such as my father and son, will visit and bring back recipes," she says. One example is her Tuscan Fennel Salad. "My relatives in Tuscany use blood oranges; I like to make it whenever I come across some nice sweet oranges."
