Quinlan leaving La Crosse for new Wells Fargo post

La Crosse Tribune,  Sep 21, 2005  by Cahalan, Steve

Jim Quinlan, who has been president of Wells Fargo Bank of La Crosse since January 2004, has been named regional manager for Wells Fargo Private Banking in Wisconsin, effective Oct. 3.

Quinlan will manage all private bankers at Wells Fargo offices in La Crosse, Eau Claire, Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Sheboygan and Appleton. He will work from Wells Fargo's regional headquarters in Milwaukee.

"In the interim, I can do that from LaCrosse," Quinlan said. He and his wife, Caroline, and their three children will move from Onalaska to Milwaukee, probably next spring.

"Private banking is the area of the bank that provides banking and financial services to high income, high-net-worth individual households," Quinlan said. Wells Fargo has two private bankers in La Crosse.

"I'm excited about it," Quinlan said of his new job. "It was a compelling offer. It's a business in which we have very high expectations, as a region and as a company. We believe we can grow it at a faster clip."

Quinlan also said he has enjoyed working and living in this area, and will be a frequent visitor. "We have a terrific lifestyle here," and good friends, he said.

Quinlan said he will continue as vice chairman of this year's Great Rivers United Way campaign, and is on that organization's board. He also is on the board of the Gateway Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and will continue as chairman for a Boy Scout fundraising dinner to be held early next year.

Quinlan, 47, is a 25-year veteran of Wells Fargo Bank. The company hasn't named a new president for the La Crosse bank.
