CityMainStreet Technologies, Inc. (CMST) And Argonne National Laboratory Team To Supply Wireless Intelligent Remote Detection Systems--WIRDS To Detect Radiation, Biological And Chemical Threats
Market Wire, November, 2002
CityMainStreet Technologies, Inc., (OTC:CMST) a leading developer of Wireless Intelligent Remote Detection Systems, today announced it has partnered with Argonne National Laboratory to develop and apply and early warning crisis management technologies aimed at securing facilities from chemical, biological, and radiation threats.
CityMainStreet Wireless Intelligent Remote Detection Systems (WIRDS) are able to gather information from a wide variety of sources including chemical detectors, radiation monitors, biological samplers, language and voice finger printing systems, and high-speed video monitoring and rapidly transmit that information to a wide range of emergency and law enforcement responders. The WIRDS technology provides a key component of an early warning system by being able to integrate information from diverse sources and get it into the hands of response personnel quickly. This capability meshes well with Argonne's experience in developing emergency management software. The combination will allow crisis management information to be sent anywhere in the world, to better evaluate and respond to any situation. WIRDS will also be deployed to create Smart Containers and shippers. The WIRDS also have Global Positioning capability.
"Our challenge is to find technologies that will work together seamlessly. We teamed with CityMainStreet because their Wireless Intelligent Remote Detection Systems, software, and intelligent agents which can report and notify hundreds of personnel simultaneously are very flexible and integrate easily with existing systems," said Dr. Anthony Policastro, Principal Investigator of the Argonne program.
"With CityMainStreet's capabilities, we can provide better tools that will enable first responders, emergency personnel, and other law enforcement officials to evaluate an apparent threat within seconds."
By integrating information from a variety of detectors, surveillance systems, and other sources, and making that information available to a number of response organizations simultaneously, an early warning and protection system can significantly reduce response time to an incident, potentially saving hundreds to thousands of lives in the event of a radiation, chemical, or biological attack.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Argonne National Laboratory and to be part of a mission that is so critical to the people of America," said Greg Webb, CEO of CityMainStreet Technologies. "Unfortunately in today's society, radiation, chemical and biological warfare are real threats that we must take seriously. CityMainStreet's WIRDS provides law enforcement, security personnel, and first responders with the technology to better protect our citizens from a potentially deadly attack."
CityMainStreet technologies are very flexible, easily customized and can be integrated into most legacy infrastructures. They also support a wide range of robotic surveillance camera packages from top manufacturers for indoor, outdoor and extreme environments, including low light thermal imaging, infrared and even submersible camera options.
About Argonne National Labs--The nation's first national laboratory, Argonne National Laboratory conducts basic and applied scientific research across a wide spectrum of disciplines, ranging from high-energy physics to climatology and biotechnology. Since 1990, Argonne has worked with more than 600 companies and numerous federal agencies and other organizations to help advance America's scientific leadership and prepare the nation for the future. Argonne is operated by the University of Chicago as part of the U.S. Department of Energy's national laboratory system.
About CityMainStreet Technologies-- is a leading developer of advanced wireless, digital video security, intelligent agent broadcast systems for corporate and government clients and radiation, biological, and chemical detectors. CityMainStreet also owns key wireless antenna array patents that provide a unique competitive advantage in the deployment of WIRDS. CityMainStreet and Argonne will also supply Smart Technology for the worldwide container and shipping industry. CityMainStreet provides prime contracting capabilities and turn-key Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products; provides an effective multi-jurisdictional visual and detection communications solution for first responders, law enforcement, military and commercial broadcasters, and a global response center. Flexible and secure, CityMainStreet systems are used in a wide variety of mission critical applications, including security and broadcasting. The patent-pending software supports a broad range of robotic camera packages from leading manufacturers that enable users to view video and control cameras in real-time on standard PCs and wireless mobile devices.
These systems can be deployed in practically any location with support for most legacy infrastructure, ensuring a reliable and scalable platform. CityMainStreet is currently finalizing its independent audit, preparing for a structural separation of the Quantum Communications into a wholly owned subsidiary thus allowing CityMainStreet to hire an investment banker for a potential IPO in 2003. The Board intends to appoint a full time CEO to prosecute Quantum's patents and list the stock on a major exchange by the second half of 2003. Mr. Webb is a former QUALCOMM, AT&T, NORTEL and LUCENT executive. His consulting practice includes many top 50 firms, including AT&T and CISCO Systems.
