Chrysler Group Deploys Digital Asset Management Solution From Artesia To Manage Valuable Rich Media Brand Assets

Market Wire,  November, 2002

When you think of DreamWorks you think of movies. When you think of Herman Miller you think of furniture. And, when you think of Chrysler Group you think of cars, trucks and SUVs. But, what could these diverse companies possibly have in common? DreamWorks, Herman Miller and Chrysler Group all manage their rich media content through an enterprise digital asset management system, allowing them to efficiently store and manage valuable enterprise digital content such as data, graphics, photography and video.

Chrysler Group announced today that it has recently deployed a technology infrastructure based on Artesia Technologies' TEAMS(TM) product in order to facilitate the storage and management of its company's rich media and brand content. This "Accelerated Digital Asset Management" system, or ADAM as it is called, allows easy but secure access to all the various types of unstructured content and information - video, graphics, photography, text and many other file types - to be housed in a common system. ADAM enables relevant internal and external groups to streamline online processes and reduce costs associated with the production and re-use of this valuable Company digital content.

"ADAM is essentially a state-of-the-art cataloging system that offers great rewards in terms of cost and time-savings," said Jeff Bell, Vice President Jeep and Business-to-Consumer/Customer Relationship Management, DaimlerChrysler.

According to Bell, many external agencies, internal departments and even geographically dispersed collaborators are involved in the creative marketing process, increasing the possibility of redundant efforts such as duplicate photography, video or graphic images. "Not only did we duplicate efforts, but we also added cost by using different formats across various internal departments and agencies," stated Bell. Driven by the ever-growing amounts of digital content and the need to keep costs down, it was critical to find a solution to assist in the appropriate and consistent reuse of the content, thereby increasing its value and the continuity of the Company brands.

The ADAM system will work with any digital file including still images, rich media, video and audio files -- something previous system used for managing this process and content did not offer. Once a file is entered into the ADAM system the content is automatically indexed for search and retrieval purposes.

ADAM is based on the TEAMS(TM) enterprise digital asset management system from Artesia Technologies. Artesia Technologies is a software market leader in enterprise Digital Asset Management (DAM). Artesia's core product, TEAMS, enables organizations to capture, manage, and dynamically re-express valuable rich-media assets - video, audio, images, graphics, and text - and leverage them to exploit new business opportunities. In addition, TEAMS is built using open standards technology making it easier to connect and work with other enterprise software.

"Artesia's Digital Asset Management solution enables large organizations such as the Chrysler Group to address the challenges of managing the full lifecycle of marketing and brand content," said Scott Bowen, President & COO, Artesia Technologies. "By making it easier for brand content producers and consumers to more easily collaborate and share the content our customers can ensure the integrity of the brand and save costs at the same time."

Currently, ADAM houses the Chrysler Group's brand centric images, including video, graphics, images, and text. Approximately 8,000 images are extracted each week just for use on the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep(R) brand Web sites.
