New York Mortgage Company opens Jamestown, N.Y. office

Real Estate Weekly,  Oct 2, 2002

The New York Mortgage Company, LLC, one of the fastest growing mortgage banking firms in the eastern U.S., has opened an office in the Jamestown, New York area, announces Steven Schnall, president.

Jamestown native Linda Ahern has been appointed branch manager. The office is at the Chautaugua Mall, 318 East Fairmount Ave., Suite 230, Lakewood, N.Y.

Jamestown is located in Chautaugua County in western New York, about 60 miles south of Buffalo. "The market there is strong, driven to a large extent by the revitalization of Jamestown's downtown core, which is bringing new shops, restaurants and visitors to the area," says Schnall.

According to Ahern, "That resurgence of activity downtown is impacting the value and demand for housing in Jamestown and surrounding Chautaugua City. But there's also a growing demand for vacation homes, especially near Chautaugua Lake, which is a world-renowned tourist resort.

"I'm thrilled to return home and run the new office for NYMC," says Ahern. "I was born and raised in Jamestown, I know the market, I know the people and I'm eager to get started."

Joseph V. Fierro, NYMC's chief operating officer says -homebuyers in the Jamestown area will benefit from the firm's enormous variety of loan products, including those geared towards first-time homebuyers who aren't able to put a lot of money down and might need up to 100% financing. "We also offer interest-only loans and bridge loans, which help homeowners close on a new home even if their existing residence has not yet been sold."

Ahern brings more than 16 years of experience in mortgage banking to her new position. She was most recently a mortgage loan manager responsible for establishing a loan department at Cornerstone National Bank in Easley, South Carolina. She started her mortgage career as a loan officer with Marine Midland Mortgage Corporation (now HSBC) in Jamestown. She has also served in various capacities with other mortgage companies in South Carolina.
