Mario Botta, Light and Gravity, Architecture 1993-2003
Architectural Review, The, Jan, 2005
Striated light in Noah's Ark, Jerusalem Zoo by Mario Botta and Niki de Saint Phalle. A remarkably light-hearted work by Botta, that master of the serious (and often portentous) architectural statement, shows his playful side which, as the most recent monograph shows, is not as reticent as it might sometimes seem (think for instance of his wonderful floating section of Borromini's San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane--AR February 2000). Recent work is assembled with great thoroughness in Mario Botta, Light and Gravity, Architecture 1993-2003, ed Gabriele Cappellato, Prestel, Munich etc, 2004, [pounds sterling]42.
