About 6,000 consumers attended the 9th ZAP tasting in January in San Francisco. ZAP stands for Zinfandel Advocates & Producers. Among the producers pouring were one from Mexico and one from Italy. The membership consists of about 225 winegrowers or makers and 5,000 consumers. And to think that a few years ago our colleague, Jerry Mead, couldn't enlist support for Zinfandel from the people who grew it or made it.
Yes, white Zinfandel was a savior.
