Oskar Blues to host tsunami benefit for Mercy Corps

Modern Brewery Age,  March 21, 2005

On Wednesday, March 30, the Oskar Blues Brewery of Lyons, CO, will join other Colorado businesses in a "salami for tsunami" fundraising event to raise money for victims of the recent tsunami in southern Asia. The event takes place at Oskar Blues Brewery, and will feature live rockabilly music, food from Oskar Blues chef Jason Campbell and his staff, a silent auction, and salami.

Local and imported salamis will be auctioned, and Lyons artists will auction works of art made from salami. The night's fare will include southern-flavored dishes from Oskar Blues Brewery's menu, and salami. Brewery founder Dale Katechis explained the event's emphasis on salami. "We wanted to do something for the tsunami victims in Asia," says Oskar Blues Brewery founder Dale Katechis." And salami rhymes with tsunami." Each dollar donated to Mercy Corps International yields $16 in donated food and supplies. For more information on Mercy Corps International visit www.mercycorps.org. In the photo above, Mr. Katechis and Rev. Sam Tallent of the Old Stone Church display a salami ready for auction.
