A.C. Neilsen report says beer ready for comeback

Modern Brewery Age,  March 20, 2006

A recent report by A.C. Neilsen projects a comeback for beer this year, driven by the industry's push for product innovation.

Despite the beer volume drop in 2005, the report points to the 54% share of alcoholic beverage sales still held by beer.

"Product innovations will re-establish beer as America's beverage," said Nick Lake, vice president of business development at ACNielsen. "In addition to new flavors and seasonal options, watch for continued packaging innovations. The success of mini-kegs and cooler packs are just two examples of innovations making it east and desirable for people to add beer to their social occasions."
