Russian brewer brews up a "live beer" for its customers

Modern Brewery Age,  Oct 31, 2005

The Russian brewer Ochakovo has launched a new unfiltered and unpasteurised beer that contains live yeast. The company says its new "live beer," called Ochakovo Nefiltrovannoye, contains more vitamins, nutrients and useful bacteria than conventional beers.

Ochakovo says the downside is that the new brew has dramatically shorter shelf life than its regular beers. It will be sold in PET bottles with a three-day pull date, and in kegs with a 14-day shelf life.
