EEOC sues Anheuser-Busch for retaliation

Anheuser-Busch has been sued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The EEOC is suing the brewer for unlawful retaliation against a worker.

The case involves a 20-year employee named Frank Cooper who brought suit against A-B for racial discrimination.

The week the discrimination suit was brought, supervisors cited Cooper for seven rule violations over a three-day period and dismissed him.

The EEOC says it brought suit after it failed to reach a pre-litigation settlement with Anheuser-Busch.

The EEOC suit alleges violations of the Civil Rights Act for disciplining and firing Cooper in retaliation for suing the brewer. It seeks lost wages, compensatory and punitive damages, reinstatement for Cooper and injunctive relief.
