Ayinger Fest Marzen arrives!

Modern Brewery Age,  August 29, 2005

Importer Merchant Du Vin of Seattle reports that the seasonal Ayinger Oktober Fest Marzen has arrived in the United States. "Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen is one of the most highly-respected versions of this style available in the world today," says Craig Hartinger of MDV. "The beer is a full-bodied, rich lager. It has a malty bouquet with a hint of sweetness: think of the best oatmeal you ever had, then multiply by a thousand. Color is deep gold and the flavor is the perfect balance: malt backbone with depth & richness; complimented by soft dryness from long maturation; and alcohol of 5.6% by volume. Fest-Marzen is spiced with enough hops to make it snappy and thirst-quenching, but in the classic Bavarian style it's not highly bitter."

Mr. Hartinger reports that the U.S. packages are the traditional, slender half-liter bottle, 20 per case, and the beer is also sold in 30-liter kegs. Ayinger Oktober Fest Marzen comes in at 5.6% alcohol by volume, with 21 IBU.
