Fuller, Smith & Turner buys new KHS keg line

Modern Brewery Age,  Jan 24, 2005

Fuller Smith & Turner, the London-area brewer that produces London Pride ale and other brands, has has announced the purchase of a new keg-racking line from German manufacturer KHS.

The new equipment, installed at the Fuller's brewery in Chiswick, London, has more than twice the capacity of the company's old system, which had been in service for 27 years. While the old system handled 120 kegs per hour, the new KHS equipment handles 280 kegs per hour. The KHS line is equipped to clean, sterilize, fill and pallet kegs of pasteurized beer.

Fuller's reports that pasteurized kegged beer currently accounts for about 13 per cent of Fuller's production. Fuller's sells seven per cent of its beer in the bottle and the remaining 80 per cent as "real ale" with yeast still active and fermenting in cask.
