Winn-Dixie's bankruptcy case moves to Florida court

Drug Store News,  May 2, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The U.S. Bankruptcy Court has agreed to transfer Winn-Dixie's Chapter 11 case from the Southern District of New York to its hometown of Jacksonville. The grocer stated that it does not expect the move to significantly delay or otherwise materially impact its reorganization proceedings.

"When we initially made the decision to file in New York, it was with the understanding that creditors preferred that location because of its convenience," stated Peter Lynch, president and chief executive officer. However, in March a Winn-Dixie trade creditor filed a motion seeking to transfer the case.
