WOONSOCKET, R.I. -- It seems that CVS will beat Eckerd to the punch in the Phoenix market, where the chain was scheduled to open its first store Sept. 16, officially entering a market dominated by the likes of Walgreens and Albertson's.
A new store in Chandler is the first of about six stores CVS plans to have open by the end of the fourth quarter in the Phoenix market.
Eckerd plans to have its first store in Phoenix open by the end of the year.
