Barr Laboratories

Drug Store News,  August 18, 2003  by James Frederick

Barr Laboratories settled its patent litigation late last month with Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical and, as a result, will be permitted to introduce a generic version of the oral contraceptive Ortho Tri-Cyclen no later than Dec. 29.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen is an oral contraceptive that includes three different tablet combinations of norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol and is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy. The product, available in 28-tablet packaging, had annual sales of about $713 million for the 12 months ended May.
