Teamsters ratify new labor contracts

Drug Store News,  Oct 10, 2005

CINCINNATI -- The Kroger Co., which operates Ralphs, announced late last month that members of seven International Brotherhood of Teamsters Locals in Southern California have ratified a new five-year contract.

The contract covers about 3,200 truck drivers and warehouse workers who are members of Teamsters Locals 63, 166, 495, 572, 630, 848 and 952.

In addition, Vons, a company operated by Safeway, announced that Teamsters Locals 495, 630 and 848--which covers 1,450 drivers, warehouse workers and mechanics in Southern California--approved a new five-year contract.

Kroger's Ralphs, Safeway's Vons and Pavilions and Albertsons have been working to recover from a nearly five-month labor dispute that ended in early 2004.
