To avoid the use of GMO products

Prepared Foods,  Sept, 2001

To avoid the use of GMO products, U.S. food manufacturers may seek alternatives to corn-based sweeteners. TIC Gums offers two grades of gum arabic that are highly effective replacements for the viscosity provided by corn syrup: TIC Pretested[R] Gum Arabic FT. which has exceptional functional characteristics; and TIC Pretested[R] Bright Gum Arabic, whiter than standard gum arabic powder and yielding a tan or amber-colored syrup.

A 5060% gum arabic solution in water yields a consistency similar to corn syrup or honey. The solution provides body and mouthfeel to syrups, makes candy chewy and prevents crystallization in confections.
