Church's boosts S. Texas market via Popeyes buyout

Nation's Restaurant News,  Feb 26, 2007

Atlanta -- Church's Chicken, the 1,600-unit chain based here, said it has acquired for conversion 10 Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits outlets in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas, boosting Church's presence there to 39 outlets and to more than 50 percent of the local quick-service chicken market.

Church's said the acquired units, six of which would be operated by the franchisor, would further its strategy of appealing to Hispanics.
