Nation's Restaurant News, Feb 11, 2008
NASHVILLE, TENN. -- Sagittarius Brands, parent of the Captain D's Seafood Kitchen and Del Taco chains, has hired Blockbuster Inc. veteran Nicholas Paul Shepherd to assume the roles of chairman, chief executive and president on March 1.
Shepherd will take over the chairmanship from Sid Feltenstein, who also had been serving as chief executive on an interim basis since the resignation of Ron Powell because of a family illness.
Shepherd has spent 12 years with Blockbuster, parent of the 8,000-store movie rental chain, most recently as chief operating officer.
Sagittarius said Feltenstein was leaving its board to devote more time to not-for-profit commitments, though Powell would continue as a director. Among the officials who will report directly to Shepherd are Del Taco president Shirlene Lopez, Captain D's president David Head, and Sagittar-ius' development president, Ron Petty.
