CLEARWATER, FLA. -- A 75-year-old grandmother of eight was arrested at a McDonald's drive-thru here because she wouldn't pull her car forward, police said,
According to a news report on local television station WFTV-9, Jean Merola was arrested for disorderly conduct after she reportedly refused a police officer's orders to move her car while waiting for her order at the restaurant's drive-thru window. Merola said McDonald's employees had told her to wait there for her food.
Merola subsequently was arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail where she said she was searched, photographed and fingerprinted.
"I was under arrest because I was in the wrong parking place," said Merola, who was released from the jail on her own recognizance after about 90 minutes.
