Penn State Society honors Micros' Giannopoulos

COLUMBIA, MD. -- The Penn State Hotel and Restaurant Society has named A.L. "Tom" Giannopoulos, chairman, president and chief executive of Micros Systems Inc., as its Hospitality Executive of the Year. Giannopoulos was presented with the award at the 46th Hospitality Executive of the Year Award Dinner Nov. 11 at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York. In addition, Giannopoulos has been inducted into the Penn State Hospitality Hall of Fame.

David Scypinski, PSHRS president and senior vice president of industry relations for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, said, "Tom's leadership of Micros Systems has served to continuously provide the entire hospitality industry with innovative technologies that allow our businesses to operate with greater efficiency, and we are delighted to have Tom become a member of the Penn State Hospitality Hall of Fame."
