Jack in the Box to roll 'contactless' charge units

Nation's Restaurant News,  Nov 20, 2006

San Diego -- Jack in the Box Inc., parent of the namesake quick-service chain, said it would install devices in all company units by year-end to charge transactions on so-called contactless credit cards, which patrons need only wave in front of a designated spot.

Because the cards emit a radio signal, a user needn't hand them to a cashier to complete a charge, thereby saving time and lessening the chances of identify theft, the company said.

The payment option would be offered both at the counters and drive-thrus of the nearly 1,500 corporate branches of the 2,000-unit Jack in the Box chain.
