NRA show site plans 'Chicago Marketplace'

Nation's Restaurant News,  Nov 20, 2006

Chicago -- McCormick Place, one of the nation's largest convention centers and home to the National Restaurant Association's annual trade show, plans to overhaul its food operations, including the opening of satellite branches of famous local restaurants in a proposed food and entertainment complex that would be called the Chicago Marketplace.

The 30,000- to 35,000-square-foot complex would be in McCormick Place's South Building.

Local operator and contract caterer Levy Restaurants, an arm of London-based Compass Group PLC, held the five-year foodservice contract at McCormick Place until last month. Levy will continue to manage facilities there until the city-owned center solicits new proposals and bids.
