Zoe's Kitchen gets funding as Dollarhyde joins board

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. -- Zoe's Kitchen USA LLC, operator or franchisor of 19 fast-casual chicken restaurants, has obtained expansion funding from Brentwood Associates, a private-equity firm based in Los Angeles, and industry veteran Greg Dollarhyde.

Terms of the investments were not disclosed by Birmingham-based Zoe's.

Dollarhyde, who would serve on Zoe's board, is executive chairman of Pacific Island Restaurants Inc., a 93-unit Pizza Hut and Taco Bell franchisee in Hawaii, Guam and Saipan. He was president and chief executive of Fresh Enterprises Inc., which owned the Baja Fresh Mexican Grill brand before it was acquired by former owner Wendy's International Inc.
