Denny's, nonprofit team to educate single parents

ATLANTA -- Denny's has teamed up with the nonprofit Tom Joyner Foundation to promote higher education for single parents. Beginning in January, the two have pledged to give a $1,500 scholarship to a single parent attending the foundation's school of the month, selected from among the nation's historically black colleges and universities.

Denny's Corp., based in Spartanburg, S.C., is the operator or franchisor of more than 1,500 family-dining restaurants.
