'Soft' beverages made from wine grapes hit the market

Nation's Restaurant News,  Nov 19, 2007

BERKELEY, CALIF. -- For wine lovers who must for one reason or another lay off alcoholic beverages, the pickings have long been slim. But entrepreneur Pat Galvin here aims to remedy that with his Vignette Wine Country Sodas.

The beverages, which are crafted from carbonated water, varietal grape juice concentrate and natural flavor, and made with no added color or sugar or stabilizers, are designed to capture the taste of Pinot Noir or Chardonnay grapes in an effervescent, alcohol- and caffeine-free soda. Still, because no fermentation takes place, the sodas have a sweet taste and lack some of the complexity of wine. For more information visit www.winecountrysoda.com.
