NEW YORK -- Even billionaires like to eat diner food. At least Mike Bloomberg does.
Bloomberg, who is the mayor of New York City, often professes his love for diner food, according to the New York Daily News, but apparently he is crazy for one diner in particular: Viand Cafe on Madison Avenue here, just steps away from his grand Manhattan townhouse.
During the first half of 2007, Bloomberg reportedly brought some of the city's top movers and shakers to breakfast at the diner approximately 11 times, and owner Sergio Despotis said the mayor is partial to soft-boiled eggs and well-done toast. For dinner, Despotis added, he likes to tuck into a hamburger and glass of wine.
Asked what his plans are after his mayoral term ends, Bloomberg has said that in addition to running his charitable foundation, he'll continue to eat at the Viand Cafe.
"I live a block and a half away [from] my favorite Greek diner," Bloomberg said. "I'll never have to leave the neighborhood."
