COLUMBUS, OHIO -- With the holidays almost upon us, a Missouri woman is celebrating Hanukkah early this year with her grand-prize win in White Castle's recipe contest.
Leslye Louis took top honors for her "Latkes You Crave" potato latkes recipe, which features the traditional ingredients of the Jewish pancakes, including grated potatoes and eggs, along with 10 chopped-up White Castle sliders minus the pickles, the Associated Press reported.
Part of Louis's prize for winning this year's edition of the annual contest was a case of 30 White Castle burgers every week for a year.
Second place went to Philana Ford of Chicago, who created a Chinese dim sum appetizer featuring the bite-size burgers. Betty McNees of Cincinnati won third place for a recipe she called "Cook-Out Crave."
