Famous Dave's making NYC debut in pact with deli duo

NEW YORK -- Famous Dave's, preparing to expand the 155-unit barbecue brand to this city, has signed a development agreement for seven proposed restaurants here and in neighboring Westchester County, N.Y.

The restaurants would be operated by new franchisee Famous NY Barbecue LLC, led by Sammy Benmoha. He owns and operates Maxie's Delicatessen and the Roxy Delicatessen, the latter with his father. Both eateries are in Times Square, which also would be the site of the franchisee's first Famous Dave's.

Separately, Minneapolis-based Famous Dave's of America Inc. reported a 3.5-percent increase in revenue to $31.9 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30. Net income was $1.6 million, or 16 cents per diluted share, versus 15 cents per share a year ago.
