Subway names four suppliers Vendors of the Year

MILFORD, CONN. -- Subway, the quick-service sandwich brand based here, named four suppliers as the recipients of its Vendor of the Year award during the chain's recent convention in Orlando, Fla.

Recipients in the four-way tie for the annual award are Duke Manufacturing of St. Louis; Millard Refrigerated Services of Omaha, Neb.; Viola Marketing Group of Madison, Conn.; and West Liberty Foods of West Liberty, Iowa.

Subway said it honored these four suppliers for their outstanding support in supply chain management, quality, customer service, strategic vision and dedication.

Suzanne Greco, director of research and development for Subway, said: "These companies demonstrate what can happen when innovators come together to deliver outstanding programs to benefit the Subway system.

"They have proactively built systems with the best manufacturing practices, driving unprecedented quality initiatives and supply chain efficiencies, reduced costs, and developed improved energy-efficient equipment all while demonstrating dedication to the Subway brand strategy."

Subway franchises more than 28,000 outlets in 86 countries. Co-founded by Fred DeLuca and Dr. Peter Buck in 1965, the brand is owned by Doctor's Associates Inc.
