NRA seeks diversity award candidates

WASHINGTON -- The National Restaurant Association is calling for nominations for its second annual Faces of Diversity awards.

Created in partnership with PepsiCo Foodservice, the awards recognize diversity in the restaurant industry, which employs more minority managers than does any other industry. Women represent 55 percent of the restaurant workforce, and more than one-quarter of all foodservice managers are foreign-born.

Awards will be given in two categories: the American Dream Award, which honors individuals who have realized the American dream, and the Inspiration Award, which honors restaurant companies that are advocates of diversity and inclusion through key programs and initiatives.

Any restaurant employee or restaurant company can apply or be nominated for the awards, which will be presented at the NRA's Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show to be held next May 17-20 in Chicago.

The deadline to apply is Jan. 7. Applications are being accepted online at www.restaurant.org/diversity.
