Nation's Restaurant News, Nov 5, 2007
NEW YORK -- Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, a 200-unit, quick-service burger chain based in Lorton, Va., has inked a deal with a New York-based franchisee, Five Points Partners, that calls for it to open 30 units in Manhattan over the next eight years.
The first would open Nov. 2, said Sal Rincione, Five Points' executive vice president of operations and co-owner. The second would open in mid-January, followed by a third in February.
Five Guys' menu features burgers, fries and hot dogs, and the chain is known for handing out bags of peanuts to waiting customers. Rincione said the Five Points units also would offer vegetarian and grilled cheese sandwiches. Prices will range from $5.75 for a regular burger to $7.75 for a bacon cheeseburger.
Five Points Partners also owns the exclusive development rights for the Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins brands in the central and northwestern Washington, D.C., and part of the Maryland counties of Prince George's and Anne Arundel, and has Dunkin' Donuts shops in Suffolk County, N.Y. The company also is a Subway sandwich shop franchisee in central New York state.
