Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedIFA foundation: minorities have a stake in franchised business
Nation's Restaurant News, Oct 29, 2007
WASHINGTON -- Minorities owned nearly 20 percent of the nation's franchised businesses in the food industry, according to a report released this month by the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation.
Prepared by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, the report is based on the U.S. Census Bureau's "2002 Survey of Business Owners," covering the latest year for which such information was available. The report examined statistics in several categories and included an analysis of minority ownership in the government's foodservice and drinking-places categories.
Minority ownership, however, was greater in non-franchised foodservice businesses, at nearly 25 percent, the study showed.
