Subway to test delivery via centralized phone number

Nation's Restaurant News,  Oct 29, 2007

MILFORD, CONN. -- Subway Restaurants is planning to test delivery service, according to a vendor that says it will participate in the trial.

The chain's Milford-based franchisor, Doctor's Associates Inc., did not comment about the initiative by press time. But Universal Delivery Solutions Group Inc. said in a statement that Subway would invite customers in select cities to call a central ordering phone number for the delivery service. Boca Raton, Fla.-based UDS said it is providing the call system.

"Delivery is one more way Subway restaurants can help make enjoying our sandwiches a little more convenient," Ned Daley, marketing program specialist for Doctor's Associates, was quoted by UDS as saying.

Subway has nearly 28,000 units in some 85 countries and more U.S. locations than McDonald's.
