TORONTO -- Canadian food-processing company Maple Leaf Foods Inc. acquired San Francisco-based Grace Baking Co., an independent producer of fresh and frozen artisan bread products. The 15-year-old Grace Baking, which generates sales of about $18 million annually, owns a manufacturing facility in Richmond, Calif.
The acquisition will enable Maple Leaf Foods to expand its premium-quality artisan bread line. Grace's founders, Cindy and Glenn Mitchell and Fred Doar, will remain with the company.
