Dunkin' cites danger, halts glow stick giveaway promo

Nation's Restaurant News,  Oct 15, 2007

CANTON, MASS. -- Dunkin' Donuts has voluntarily halted the giveaway of about 1 million pink and orange glow sticks that were the premiums in a doughnut promotion that began Sept. 24.

Dunkin' said it learned that the glow sticks--transparent plastic tubes containing chemicals that produce light--were not labeled with warnings that the attached cap and lanyard could be choking hazards for children under the age of 3. Dunkin' had not received any complaints or reports of injury.
