WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs has presented its highest honor to sports and entertainment mogul Michael Ilitch, founder of Detroit-based Little Caesars Enterprises Inc. and chairman of Ilitch Holdings.
U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs James Nicholson presented Ilitch, a former Marine, with the Secretary's Award, in recognition of his support of veterans, specificially the chain's program to help veterans become franchisees.
More than 15 veterans have become franchisees of the more than 1,000-unit chain concept since Little Caesars launched the program last November. Little Caesars offers honorably discharged, service-disabled veterans up to $68,000 in funding to become franchisees. Non-disabled veterans can qualify for up to $10,000.
