Firehouse Subs purges trans fats from desserts

Nation's Restaurant News,  Sept 24, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Firehouse Subs, the 289-unit sandwich chain founded by two former firefighters, has deleted all artificial trans fats from its menu through the reformulation of dessert recipes.

Chief operating officer Don Fox, calling the move a "responsible choice," said all Firehouse Subs sandwiches and salads had always had zero grams of trans fats and that only desserts required revisions in ingredients.
