Nation's Restaurant News, Sept 17, 2007
CHICAGO -- Kraft Foods Inc. said it has reached an agreement to offer Starbucks coffee through its Tassimo hot-beverage machine business. Beginning in December Tassimo, a vending machine that prepares single-serving beverages, will offer Starbucks House Blend, Breakfast Blend, Caffe Verona and Africa Kitamu coffees.
The beverages will be available in the United States and Canada. Kraft introduced Tassimo in France in 2004, expanding it to the United States, Canada and other countries later. In January, Kraft said it would take a $245 million asset-impairment charge related to the Tassimo business. At that time Kraft reported that Tassimo generated annual revenue of about $100 million. Kraft also distributes Starbucks coffee in grocery stores.
