Baja Fresh shrimp burritos further menu revampings

Nation's Restaurant News,  Sept 10, 2007

THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF. -- Baja Fresh Mexican Grill has scheduled a Sept. 12 launch for a new line of burritos, two with shrimp and one with meat and potatoes. The 291-unit chain also is rolling out chili and a tomatillo-mango salsa. The items are the latest changes to Baja Fresh's menu since it was acquired from Wendy's International for $31 million by investors led by Anaheim, Calif.-based Cinnabon franchisee David Kim.

In addition to 10 grilled shrimp, the Cabo Shrimp Burrito will include black beans, rice, Jack cheese, and tomatillo and lime yogurt, while the Diablo Shrimp Burrito will contain beans, rice, Jack cheese and a chipotle sauce. Prices weren't disclosed.

The $5.95 Big Beef Burrito comes with a choice of a Jack-cheddar blend or a spicier queso fundido cheese sauce. The burrito is intended to attract more customers to East Coast branches but is being rolled out systemwide.
