CARPINTERIA, CALIF. -- The first Carl's Jr. fast-food restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, opened late last month, the fifth launched since 2005 in the Asia-Pacific region by Singapore-based Aspac F&B, which has pledged to open 20 more outlets there. Carl's Jr. brand owner CKE Restaurants Inc., based here, and its franchisees operate the 1,101-unit Carl's Jr.
and 1,905-unit Hardee's chains in 43 states and 14 countries.
