NEW YORK -- Goldman Sachs Group, the investment giant whose revenues grew 60 percent in 2006 to $69.35 billion, said its Urban Investment Group will team with James E. Boyd Jr., ex-president of Quiznos Canada and chief operating officer of Popeyes, to "identify and assess potential acquisition opportunities" in the fast-casual and quick-service sectors.
Targets would include "sizable concepts" able to grow through franchising and company development, Goldman Sachs said. Its Urban group deploys capital in minority-owned or -targeted businesses and urban real estate.
Goldman Sachs also owns the private-equity firm GS Capital Partners and the British hotel chain Queens Moat Houses.
