Nation's Restaurant News, July 30, 2007
NEW YORK -- Six former servers of V Steakhouse, the defunct restaurant opened here in the Time Warner Center by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, have sued him for allegedly dividing tips among managers and other staff members.
The plaintiffs, who claim they were underpaid, are seeking class-action status in the complaint filed July 9 in federal court in Manhattan. They allege that they were threatened with termination if they complained about the tip policy.
Vongerichten closed the steakhouse in December 2005. He owns noted restaurants Jean Georges, Spice Market, Vong and Perry St.
